Check Mate

Happy midweek everyone!

Dad was in hospital last weekend thus I could not get down to blogging a post over the weekend, seeing I was dashing around like a blue ass fly between seeing to my dad in hospital and my own family committments!

He is much better now and just needs lots of rest. It's a scary thought obviously as we see our parents slowly age. But staying positive always helps win half of all these battles.

Back to this lovely monochromatic outfit. I wanted to do a post on restyling old outfits and this was a blend of 2 gingham dresses I had put together. You can check out the post on these two dresses - here & here. I did not even realised I had named both posts pretty similar in terms of captioning but there you go - it shows consistency in the way I think ( ha ha ha!!).

Anyways, I paired this combination of two dresses to create a pretty weekend outfit and kept it casual with black and white check slides which is such an IN trend for Summer 2018 and also my favourite straw bag and black and white drop earrings from Halo Halo Baby (@halohalobebe).

So, we do not always need to get new clothes to create new looks, go back to your wardrobe and start getting creative mix and matching your items in different and daring ways - you would be surprise the creations you can put together!!

Top Summer Colour 2018 :: Meadowlark

Saturday, May 12, 2018 Simone - Your Style Architect 14 Comments

As much as I love pastel shades, but this hottest Spring/ Summer 2018 colour trend : Meadowlark certainly had me at " hello"!

A bold, confident and bright yellow shade, it totally makes one feel so happy when looking at this colour and it certainly does seem to light up the room and space around you! How can you not fall in love with this trending shade?

This was a look I had recently styled whilst away on a short vacay and I love pairing this shade of yellow with natural tones. The natural tone hat, slides and the rattan clutch completed this holiday outfit whilst to add a little oomph to the look, I finished the look off with a statement pair of black and white earrings.

I hope you like this look and do let me know in the comments below if you would trend this colour for Summer?

Here are some runway looks I love in Meadowlark.

Having been feeling so extremely tired the last couple of weeks, I needed to get out this weekend for brunch. To detox my mind, enjoy a lovely chill meal and just be around nature.

Chanced upon this quaint, eclectic colonial style cafe at the Bukit Timah Saddle Club. Owned by Jan Yeo, this lovely cafe boasts no air conditioning yet breezy interiors due to the old fashion architecture ( which I have also learned to appreciate in my recent trip to Batam at the spa). Thatched roofs styled homes are just so cool and natural and so environmentally friendly ( the waldorf teacher in me speaking!). Certainly brings me back to my early years growing up on grandma's large " kampong" ( village) house. The meals here are divine from delicious superfood salads to lovely pastas and sandwiches. You can also enjoy sitting out on the deck watching the kids go on their pony rides ( available on weekends at S$ 10 per ride). What a lovely sight.

Dressed in casual wear ready for the humidity and heat, I paired my lovely white sleeveless lace top with light pink pastel tailored shorts from ZARA. Of course even a casual outfit can be a statement with the right accessories and so here I am trending this unique Bucket Bag which I got online recently. The cute flower pot style amazingly holds plenty and one can also take out the pot to use the bag as a simple top handle style mesh bag.

So if you are ever in the Bukit Timah area in Singapore, do go check out The Rider's Cafe and remember to make a reservation in advance seeing how popular this destination is especially on the weekends. Have a great sunday ahead!

Love,
Simone xoxo
